Retired teachers meet this week
The September meeting of the Grady County Retired Teachers Association will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in the auditorium of the Roddenbery Memorial Library.
All former teachers and employees of the Grady County School System may join the organization.
Register now for Christmas Parade
Although it is more than two months away, the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has begun taking registration for this year's Cairo Christmas Parade which will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 in downtown Cairo. Applications for the parade are available at the chamber and are due no later than Nov. 8. Call 377-3663 for more information.
UFO discussion group meets
The Southwest Georgia UFO Discuss Group is looking for new members. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month at noon at the Thomas County Public Library. Everyone is welcome whether you believe in UFOs or not, according to club officials.

Classes on workplace Spanish will be taught at the Cairo Campus of Southwest Georgia Technical College beginning Oct. 1. The six hour introduction to Spanish course will teach students the main communication words and phrases used in Spanish which will allow basic communication skills.
The classes will be taught on Tuesday and Thursdays through Oct. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at SWGTC of Grady County.
The instructor for this course is William Lee who grew up on a farm in Mitchell County where he discovered his love for Spanish.

Tabernacle Baptist to hold revival
Tabernacle Baptist Church, located at 3224 Hwy. 84 East in Cairo, will be having an old fashioned revival Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3.
The services for Sunday will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with dinner on the grounds following the morning service. The revival services will begin Monday-Thursday nights at 7.
Brother Duane Earwood is the guest evangelist.
Eastside Baptist Church of Cairo will be hosting the Trinity Baptist Church ministry team Lifesong in concert at 6 p.m., on Sunday.
Lifesong sings a variety of styles from gospel to acapella to contemporary praise and worship music and has performed in worship at many college chapels and student rallies throughout the country.
