´╗┐The Whigham City Council Meeting scheduled for Jan. 14 has been rescheduled for Jan. 7. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the council chambers located at 105 W. Broad Ave. in Whigham.



Forms available for MLK parade

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade is scheduled for Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. in downtown Cairo. The MLK Collaborative encourages businesses, churches and organizations to enter a float for their chance to win a beautiful trophy.

Pastor Johnny Moore will be the grand marshal for the 2014 parade and keynote speaker for the event.

Entry forms are currently available at the Grady County Chamber of Commerce, Designs by Craig or by calling Doug Addison at 377-0984.

The group is also selling T-shirts to raise money for the scholarship fund.  You may order your shirt by calling Renee Gee-Theophille at 221-5914. 

 

Grief support group meets

A new grief recovery support group called 'GriefShare' is now meeting each week on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Faith Christian Center on Hwy. 188 in Cairo.

The group is for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. For more information, call Lavonia Carter at 397-0281.

 

Veterans meet

monthly

All area veterans are reminded that the American Legion Post No. 122 meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Cairo Masonic Lodge located behind the courthouse. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all veterans.
