The Roddenbery Memorial Library will be presenting a special Spring Break Workshop called “Surf, Sun and Scholarships Won.”
This is a three-part, hands-on workshop that utilizes a proven method to accumulate the scholarship funds you need to attend college. Each part entails four steps, totaling 12 easy-to-implement tasks. Students will utilize The Scholarship Workbook by Jessica Johnson.
She was featured in the February 2004 issue of Black Enterprise Magazine for having secured more than $100,000-plus of scholarship funds. You must come prepared to think creatively, work collaboratively and a win abundantly, according to organizers. Participants will leave with a list of scholarship resources and a winning essay.

The Reno Community Center will have its annual Chicken Pilau Supper from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. The cost is $7 per person. All funds received will help with the upkeep of the building.

The Roddenbery Library is launching a new Chess Club for ages 10 and above. The first meeting of the club is at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31. All levels of expertise are welcome and an instructor will be present to teach those who are new to the game. The library will provide some chess sets, but you can also bring your own.
