Church to hold holiday service

The Church of Grady County, a newly formed church body in Cairo, invites everyone to a special night of musical worship during a special holiday program at 6 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 22 in the auditorium of Southside School.

 The church’s praise band will provide holiday and a special reading of the Christmas Story will be featured.

Everyone is invited to attend. Call Pastor Mike Mobley at 224-1819 for more information.

 

Basketball

registration ends

The Grady County Recreation Department is conducting  registration for Instructional League Basketball now through Monday.

 There will be four age groups:  5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12.  The cost for registration is $15.

Registration will be held at the Rec Department office on the Pelham Highway weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Library accepting food for fines

As is an annual Christmas custom, the Roddenbery Memorial Library is accepting non-perishable food items in payment of fines through December.

Patrons will receive a $1 credit toward their current overdue fines for any undamaged, unexpired and unopened boxed or canned food items. All the items will be donated to the local Help Agency.

There is no limit to the number or amount of fines that can be cleared but bills for lost or damaged library items and collection fees are not eligible for the 'Food for Fines program.

 

Program to help fundraising

Thomas University’s Southern Center for Nonprofit Excellence invites representatives from area charities, groups, churches and civic groups to join in a special webinar presentation called “Improving Your Fundraising Events”, an on-line discussion with event fundraising experts from Live Without Limits.

The event is 1 p.m. today and is free to all SCeNE members and $25 for non-members.

Friends of the Library to meet

The Roddenbery Friends of the Library will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Grady Room.

The group’s plans for 2014 will be discussed and everyone is invited to attend and join the supporters of the library.
