Relay for Life

this weekend

The American Cancer Society's annual Relay for Life will be held in Cairo on Friday at the Cairo High School track.  Teams of eight to 15 participants will take turns walking or running the track during the event in an effort to raise money for the fight against cancer.  Cancer survivors are encouraged to participate by walking the first lap of the relay at 6 p.m.

If you would like to make a donation in honor of a cancer survivor or in someone's memory, you are encouraged to participate in the Luminaria Ceremony which will be held at 9 p.m.

For more information on how you can help raise money or join the efforts by the local Grady County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, call Chastity Cox at 221-2258.

Residents should bring in containers

City of Cairo officials remind everyone to please remove your garbage container from the Right of Way in a timely manner.  All garbage containers for collection by the sanitation department must be moved from the street to a location off the right-of-way by 7 a.m. on the date following the date of collection.  The continue failure of the customer to remove their container may subject the occupier of the property to a fine.
