Show features Chrysler rag tops

The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce will present its 26th annual Great Southern Antique Car Show and Rally on Friday and Saturday.  This year's rally is sponsored by Stallings Motors of Cairo and will feature classic Chrysler Convertibles of the 1960's.

The weekend will feature a dazzling array of historic vehicles, hot rods and classics, and is expected to attract more than 150 antique automobiles. The vintage cars will be featured in a gas light parade on Friday night followed by a street dance.

On Saturday, the classic cars will participate in a Auto Poker Rally starting at 9 a.m. and will return to Davis Park for display and judging.

One Day Book Sale Saturday

The Friends of the Roddenbery Memorial Library will be holding a One Day Book Sale at the library on Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

In celebration of the 26th Annual Great Southern Antique Car Rally, the book sale will take place in two locations. Visitors can “Fill-A-Bag” with books for only $3 in the main library and receive a coupon for a free book to be redeemed at the Le Chat Noir, the Friends of the Library bookstore. Many fee items will also be available throughout the day.

Annual MPact run May 17

The Family Worship Center will be hosting their eighth annual MPact Girls Club 5K/10K run on Saturday, May 17 at 1400 S.  Broad St. in Cairo.

This year's run will benefit the Steadfast Ministries, a nonprofit organization assisting missionaries meet the spiritual and physical needs of people in the mountains of Honduras.
