Peck benefit

There will be a carryout spaghetti dinner to help raise money to help pay the medical bills for Cliff Peck, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The event will be held on April 24 and plates may be picked up at the Zebulon Theater between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. To purchase tickets, call Christine Perkins at 378-5002 or Nicole McNichols at 403-2029.

Robinson Day

The Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club in Cairo will be celebrating Jackie Robinson Day on April 15 from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Parents and students are encouraged to come participate in a baseball game and enjoy hot dogs and drinks. The event will be held at the Boys and Girls Club on 6th Avenue, SW in Cairo.

Cone reunion

The family and friends of Henry and Emma Lawrence Cone are invited to the Cone Reunion on April 19 at the New Bethel Baptist Church on the Lower Meigs Road.  A meal will be served at noon and an Easter egg hunt for the children will be held after lunch. For more information, call 328-8035.

Author event

The Roddenbery Memorial Library invites all local authors to participate in the "Literary Locals" event on April 15 at 6 p.m. A variety of authors is expected to be in attendance, representing a wide variety of genres — including fiction and non-fiction, children's, poetry, young adult, mystery and romance. The "Literary Locals" event is free and will be held in the South Hall of the library.  Each author will have copies of their books for sale. Golf tournament

The Kevin Walden Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at the Cairo Golf Club on April 19.  There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the four-person scramble format. The cost is $50 per person and includes cart, green fees, lunch and prizes. All proceeds will benefit the Kevin Walden Memorial Scholarship. To register, call 377-4506.
