Memorial 5K  Saturday

The Lateesha Faulk Clinton Memorial 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday beginning at Southside Elementary School.

Clinton was the former principal at the school who died unexpectantly last year.  All proceeds will benefit the Lateesha Faulk Clinton educational projects fund at Southside Elementary School.

Registration will be held from 8 a.m.-8:50 a.m. with the run/walk beginning at 9 a.m. The entry cost is $20. T-shirts will be available for those who have registered early.  Awards will be given in several age categories.

Shadowing Day planned at CHS

Cairo High School is sponsoring Groundhog Job Shadow Day on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

If any local employers would like to provide a job shadowing experience at their business for a student, please contact Kevin Collins at 378-1177.

Career Expo

is in February

The Department of Labor and Southwest Georgia Technical College will be sponsoring the 2014 Cairo/Thomasville Career Expo from 9 a.m. to noon, on Thursday, Feb. 20  in the Sewell Building D at SWGTC.

A variety of employers and vendors will be on site and people seeking career opportunities are encouraged to come dressed for success and bring copies of their resumes.

contest planned

The Grady County History Scrapbook Competition is being conducted by the Historical Society for high school and middle school students who life in Grady County.

The scrapbooks must contain information about life in Grady County including its history, farming evolution, church and school impact and other aspects of life in the community.

The scrapbooks must be presented the the Grady County Historical Society Museum by March 20 for judging and the winners will be announced at the Historical Society's meeting on April 8.  A $100 cash prize will be presented to the high school winner and a $50 cash prize for the middle school winner with cash awards also given to the second place winners.
