Auxiliary to hold bake sale
The Grady General Hospital Ladies Auxilliary will hold a bake sale in the front lobby of Grady General Hospital this Friday, from 8 a.m.-until.
Lots of baked goodies for Thanksgiving will be available.
Retired teachers association meets
The Grady County Retired Teachers Association will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. today at the Roddenbery Memorial Library's auditorium.
This month, donations of food, gently worn clothing and money will be received and given to the HELP Agency of Cairo.
All retired employees of the Grady County School System are invited to attend.
Tickets on sale for Cairo follies
The Syrup City Players will present their third annual Cairo Christmas Follies on Dec. 6-7 at the Zebulon Theater. Both shows will start at 7:30 p.m. with a special children's matinee presented by Grady County Young Life on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and students if purchased in advance at Miss Myrt’s and Center Drugs with all tickets at the door the night of the shows for $12.
The Christmas Follies is an old-fashioned community celebration of the holidays with local singing groups, soloist, musicians, dancers and actors in a fun variety show format.

FFA holding annual fruit sale
The Cairo High School FFA members are currently taking orders for citrus fruit and Washington apples.
All fruit is certified U.S. No. 1 and comes packed in 4/5 bushel boxes weighing approximately 40 pounds. Boxes can be split between two different kinds of fruit, if desired.
To order the fruit, contact any FFA member or call 377-6217or 377-2044.
Library accepting food for fines
As is an annual Christmas custom, the Roddenbery Memorial Library will be accepting non-perishable food items in payment of fines like overdue materials during November and December.
Patrons will receive a $1 credit towards their current overdue fines for any undamaged, unexpired and unopened boxed or canned food items.
All the items will be donated to the local Help Agency.
There is no limit to the number or amount of fines that can be cleared but bills for lost or damaged library items and collection fees are not eligible for the 'Food for Fines' program.
Annual Christmas parade planned
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Association invite everyone to attend the Annual Cairo Christmas Parade.
It will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 in downtown Cairo beginning at the chamber and moving south down Broad Street.

American Legion meets monthly
All area veterans are reminded that the American Legion Post No. 122 meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Cairo Masonic Lodge located behind the courthouse.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all veterans.
CHS program seek employers
If you are a business owner who might be interested in higher a student this coming school year, the Work-Based Learning program at Cairo High School has more than 35 juniors and seniors who are looking for work opportunities.
Each student accepted into the program must receive excellent teacher recommendations, meet high academic and behavior criteria and have an identifiable career goal.
