Lassac C. M.E. Church located on Parramore Fishpond Road will observe their Annual Black History Program.  Service will begin at 11:30 a.m.; the speaker is Benjamin Tillman Jr. teacher and head boys basketball coach at Thomasville High School. The theme is “The Best Is Yet To Come.”


Interdenominational Women’s Mission is holding a seminar at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20 at Madison Grove Clubhouse off Pavo Road. The speaker is Kim Fromkin.


The Lambda Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. 106th anniversary program at 3 p.m., Sunday at First Missionary Baptist Church. The speaker is Jacqulyn Saunders.


Minister DiTranna Lowe-Walker is the speaker at 11 a.m., Sunday at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.


Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church is holding youth revival services at 7 p.m., Wednesday through Feb. 21. Youth day will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 23 with speaker the Rev. Spencer Wilson. The speakers are the Rev. Horace Holloway, Tavorius Baulkman and Tony Brown.


Family & Friends Full Gospel Baptist Church is holding its annual family and friends day at 3 p.m., Sunday.

The speaker is Evangelist Michael Jeboba Williams of Camilla.

Alpha Kappa Alpha

The Lambda Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will celebrate the organization’s 106th anniversary on Sunday, at First Missionary Baptist Church at 3 p.m.  The speaker will be Jacqulyn Saunders, a member of the organization.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is an international service organization that was founded Jan. 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University.  The current international theme is “Global Leadership through Timeless Service” with signature initiatives that focus on health, youth, economic security and preserving the environment.  The local chapter reaches out to the youth of the community with its youth programs-Emerging Young Leaders (EYL), which targets young girls in grades 6-8 and Teens in Action, which targets young ladies in grades 9-12.  Lambda Xi Omega Chapter also gives scholarships annually to qualified high school and college students.
