First Newark Baptist Church Pastor Steve Brooks and his family will be in concert at Thomasville’s New Growth Baptist Church, 3890 County Line Rd. on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The Brookses, including wife Angela, son Ethan and daughter Meredith, feature soaring harmony in the traditional Southern Gospel style.


Restoration Tabernacle Ministries, 1002 N. Broad St., is holding a Get Your Mind Right Revival every Thursday in October at 6:45 p.m.


The youths of Providence Missionary Baptist Church are holding Youth Day at 10:45 a.m., Sunday.

The speaker is Jakerra Morrow, a Thomasville High School senior. There will also be special liturgical dance ministering by the Angels of Praise and N2Him Dance ministries.  


First Missionary Baptist Church is holding its fifth Sunday Youth Day Sunday, beginning with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. The guest speaker is Gregory "Greg" Anderson, screen writer for the movie Stomp The Yard.

While studying under David Wheeler and Susan Steinberg at Harvard University, Anderson  wrote Stomp the Yard. On a $13 million budget, it grossed over $100 million in overall markets, including ancillary, becoming one of the most successful dance and music films of all time.

The film was inspired by his undergraduate and fraternity experiences at Florida A&M University.


Faith Temple Church in Cairo is holding a breast cancer awareness walk at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 5 at Holder Park.



First Unity Missionary Baptist Church’s annual revival services are at 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Oct. 4. The guest minister is the Rev. Dr. Eddie L. Jones, pastor of First Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, Atlanta. Churches on program each night are on Monday is First Unity Missionary Baptist Church, Tuesday is Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, Wednesday is Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, Thursday is Mercy Seat Christian Church and Friday is Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
