A musical appreciation program in honor of radio show host Merelyn Hardy is at 5 p.m., Saturday, at New Generation Christian Center.


Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., a nonpartisan organization, is holding a voter registration drive Sunday following morning services. The locations are Bethany Congregational United Church of Christ, Clifford Temple CME Church, Disciples of Jesus Ministries, Providence Missionary Baptist Church, St. Luke CME Church and St. Thomas AME Church.

The drive is open to anyone in Thomas County who is not registered to vote or needs to changed their address.


Daughter of Zion Bible Center Ministry is holding fifth Sunday services at 11 a.m. The speaker is Elder Larry Brown of Cairo. Sunday school begins at 9:45 and lunch will be served.

Fish fry

The annual harvest festival of New Generation Christian Center is Nov. 10-17. In order to raise funds, the Women’s Ministry has planned a fish fry on Oct. 5 at 113 Bartow St. and are asking for help from the public. The group needs fish, French fries, sausage, loaf bread, hot dog buns, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, plates, napkins, soft drinks and bottled water. To donate, call Marilyn Lacy at (229) 221-2712.
