Published January 07, 2009 12:30 pm - NEWPlan under way to save Southwestern Mike Keown, a Thomas County legislator, has begun a push to save Southwestern State Hospital, which employs 800 to 900 people and is set to close by 2012. Keown is looking to the community to help save the Thomasville facility, one of seven state mental hospitals in Georgia.
