THOMASVILLE City police made five arrests and issued more than 40 citations in a Friday road check.
On Thursday, Thomasville police issued an alert about impaired drivers. Officers, pointing out spring break, said they would be on the lookout for all types of traffic violations.
Their alert came to life Friday night when they participated in the Southwestern Traffic Enforcement Network Multi-Jurisdictional Road Check.
The event began at 6 p.m. in Coolidge, with participation of law enforcement agencies from throughout the area.
One team worked in Coolidge at the main intersection on U.S. 319, and another team went to Pavo, said Sgt. Ricky Singletary, Thomasville Police Department (TPD) public information officer.
The following citations were issued in Thomasville:
Driving under the influence 2
Seatbelt violations 10
Child restraint violations 6
Open container 2
Expired tag 3
Window tint violations 2
Driving without license on person 4
Suspended registration 1
No drivers license 1
Tag requirement 1
No liability insurance 1
Headlight requirements 1
Taglight requirements 1
Expired drivers license 3
Driving while unlicensed 1
No tag 1
Failure to obey traffic control device 1
Law enforcement agencies participating in area road checks included Thomasville, Albany, Cairo, Poulan, Fitzgerald, Coolidge and Pavo police and Grady County, Dougherty County and Early County sheriffs offices.
