Ceremonies slated for Memorial Day

THOMASVILLE — The placing of flags on veterans graves begins today and continues through Monday morning.

At 11 a.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial Garden at Sunset Memorial Gardens, a Memorial Day service will take pace.

The Thomas County Veterans Council — made up of members of American Legion posts, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans groups in Thomasville — and their families will place flags at various cemeteries throughout the Memorial Day holiday.

The activity is open to anyone who wants to help.

The flag-placing schedule is:

• Pavo, Lebanon Cemetery — 1 p.m. today

• Boston area cemeteries —10 a.m. Sunday

• Magnolia Cemetery — 2 p.m. Sunday

• Sunset Memorial Gardens — 4 p.m. Sunday

• Peaceful Rest Cemetery — 7:30 a.m. Monday

• Laurel Hill Cemetery — 7:30 a.m. Monday

Anyone needing assistance in getting to the Monday Memorial Day service should contact Joy Smith at 221-3813.
