THOMASVILLE — Today

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR’s), is having its dip, clip and groom fundraiser at 1960 Hwy. 84 E., Cairo. To attend, call 397-7387 for an appointment to have your pooch washed, clipped and professionally goomed by area groomers. The proceeds will go to the SCAR. Local volunteers will be on hand serving Blue Bell ice cream, Pesi-Cola products, grilled hot dogs, along with homemade frozen banana chunks dipped in dark chocolate, sour cream pound cake and Mrs. Dot Schlabach’s banana nut bread loafs for donations. Bring the entire family and friends to have their pooches groomed, enjoy games, food and play with adoptable puppies for another great SOWEGA summer Saturday.

Sunday

11:30 a.m. — The 59th annual reunion of the descendants of Charles Palmer and Elizabeth Lee will be held at Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church located in upper Grady County, off Ga. Hwy. 112 North. The Palmer reunion business session with the election of officers for the next two years, will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. Come and bring a covered dish. Monday

11 a.m. — The July meeting of Plantation Manor Dementia Family Support Group will be held at Plantation Manor. Betty Sawyer will discuss her experience with her husband’s dementia. For information, call Sawyer at 228-0880.

Tuesday

6 p.m. — Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in the Guild Room. There are no dues or fees and is open to men and women. For information, call 226-0556 or 377-4995.

Thursday

10 a.m. — Golden K Kiwanis Club meets at Dawson Street Baptist Church.

12:30 p.m. — The Thomasville Rotary Club meets at the Plaza.

4 p.m. — A free Live Smart Seminar series, presented by Redemption Housing Counselors Inc., will be held at Rose City Federal Credit Union. Learn how to manage your money. To RSVP, call 229.584.1082. More meetings are planned for Aug. 15 and Sept. 19.

5:45 p.m. — Early bird Bingo games, sponsored by the Kouncil Club of Thomasville, are at St. Augustine Catholic Church social hall. Regular Bingo sessions begin at 6:45. Prizes awarded and proceeds go to local charities of southwest Georgia.

6 p.m. — Cairo New Beginnings Group of Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11th Ave. N.W., Cairo. For information, call Aileen at 378-0341 or Brenda at 377-4995.
