THOMASVILLE — Today

5:30 p.m. — If you are at least 9 years old and would like to be a member of Thomas County 4-H Program come to the County-Wide 4-H club, “Mix It Up”  meeting at the Thomas County Extension Office at 227 W. Jefferson. If you attend one of the city schools or private schools or if you are home-schooled this is your opportunity to participate in 4-H!  At this meeting, you will learn about what Thomas County 4-H has to offer and you will be able to join at this time.  For information, contact Cindy Wynn at 225-4130.

6 p.m. — Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in the Guild Room. There are no dues or fees and is open to men and women. For information, call 226-0556 or 377-4995.



Wednesday

Noon — Members of the Thomasville NSDAR chapter will meet at the Plaza Restaurant. The theme is “Celebrate Constitution Week” and the speaker is M.G. Whittle.



Thursday

10 a.m. — Golden K Kiwanis Club meets at Dawson Street Baptist Church.

12:30 p.m. — The Thomasville Rotary Club meets at the Plaza.

4 p.m. — A free Live Smart Seminar series, presented by Redemption Housing Counselors Inc., will be held at Rose City Federal Credit Union. Learn how to manage your money. To RSVP, call 229.584.1082.

5:45 p.m. — Early bird Bingo games, sponsored by the Kouncil Club of Thomasville, are at St. Augustine Catholic Church social hall. Regular Bingo sessions begin at 6:45. Prizes awarded and proceeds go to local charities of southwest Georgia.

6 p.m. — Cairo New Beginnings Group of Overeaters Anonymous meets at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11th Ave. N.W., Cairo. For information, call Aileen at 378-0341 or Brenda at 377-4995.

6 p.m. — Central High School of 1979 is holding a class reunion meeting at the Thomas County Board of Educaton Professional Learning Center. The committee needs volunteers to assist with planning and managing reunion plans. The 35-year reunion is planned for next June. For information, call Olie A. If you have kept in contact with other classmates, send us their contact information or pass along the information to them. This meeting is finalize the details including the date, location and ticket price.

Miscellaneous

A new divorced and separated support group meets at Cairo Presbyerian Church, 100 4th Ave. SE, at 7 p.m., Tuesdays. For information, call Richard Hartsfield at 229-328-0906. The only requirement for participation is that you be divorced and/or separated.

Members of the Thomasville High School class of 1958 are planning an informal get-together for their 55th anniversary celebration. The event is 4 p.m. — until on Friday, Sept. 27 and 10 a.m. — until on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Thomasville Shrine Club lake house, on U.S. 19 South. There are no scheduled events, and no sit-down meals are planned, so you don’t need reservations or money in advance. Refreshments will be on hand and meals can be by either heading to a restaurant, or send out and pick up food on a pay-as-you-go basis. Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. Monday for big book study, beginners meetings are held at 8 p.m., Tuesday and 8 p.m., Saturday is open discussion all at Trinity Anglican Church on West Jackson Street. At noon, on Wednesday is big book study and Friday is open discussion both at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Al-Anon meets at 8 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at Trinity Anglican Church. The Thomasville group meets at 8 p.m., Monday which is a closed big book meeting. At 8 p.m., Tuesday is an open beginners meeting and at 8 p.m., Saturday is open discussion all held at Trinity Anglican Church. It’s in the Book group, a closed men’s  meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 7 p.m., Friday, is a closed big book step study at New Generation Church. A closed meeting is at 1 p.m., Wednesdays at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
