Workshop

Christ Harvest Alliance of Ministries will be sponsoring a leadership workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday at New Generation Christian Center, 1217 Old Albany Rd. A continental breakfast begins at 9.

Workshop speakers for the workshop are Pastor Jeffrey Dyson and Gerald Calhoun II.

Men’s day

Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 Magnolia St., is celebrating its 42nd Men’s Day program at 3 p.m., Sunday.

The 2014 theme is Man Made According to Divine Pattern, Biblical Foundation: Gen. 1:26-27.

Speaker Marvin E. Dawson, originally from Vanceboro, N.C., is the youngest of eight siblings. He received a bachelor degree in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, N.C., and a master of business administration degree from Thomas University, Thomasville.

Dawson held the position of Director of Distributor Relations with Flowers Baking Company of Oxford, Penn., before being transferred to Flowers Foods Inc. in Thomasville, Georgia in 2013. He is currently employed as a Contract Manager in the Legal Department for Flowers Foods Inc.

He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Thomasville-Thomas County YMCA Board of Directors; The Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce Board, Thomasville -Thomas County Library Board of Directors, the Board of Directors for United Way, the Thomas University Alumni Board of Governors, and is a past member of the Thomasville Rotary Club.  Additionally, he completed the chamber of cCommerce’s leadership program in 2005.

His hobbies are reading, playing basketball, working out, going to the movies and enjoying family. He is married to Leta Ward-Dawson, the daughter of Charlie and Willard Ward Sr. of Thomasville. They attend Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Thomasville.
