Whigham Baptist to hold VBS
Whigham Baptist Church is holding its annual Vacation Bible School June 17-21 with classes for everyone ages 3 and up. The theme for this year’s VBS is “Game On” and will feature a sports theme. Summer Jam is Saturday
at Holder Park
Everyone is invited to attend Cairo’s first-ever Community Summer Jam on Saturday, June 16 from 1-7 p.m. at Holder Park. There will be free food, games, bounce houses, music and more. Grant Chapel plans revival
Grant Chapel Community Church is holding revival services June 18-22 beginning at 7 each evening. The Rev. Sylvester Williams is the guest preacher for the services. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
Annual skills camp planned
The annual Clifford Hammonds Basketball Skills Camp will be held June 27-29 at Cairo High School gym. The camp, taught by all-state and collegiate basketball players with many years of playing experience, is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 16. The goal of the camp is to create positive self-concept in young people while learning the fundamentals and discipline of basketball, teamwork and life skills. The camp starts at 9 a.m. each day and ends at 5 p.m., Wednesday through Thursday and until 6 p.m., on Friday. For more information, call 220-3239.
Macedonia MB Church to hold youth revival services
Macedonia M.B. Church is holding summer youth revival June 18-20 with services each night at 7. The Rev. Cambridge McGill will be guest speaker and all youth from the community are invited to attend.
Benefit fund for
Jody Green set up
A benefit fund has been set up for Jody Green at United National Bank in Cairo. Green has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer and all donations will be used to help with medical and treatment expenses. You may make donations in person at the bank on North Broad Street or by calling the bank at 377-7200.
Greater New Corinth Church holding VBS
Annual Vacation Bible School is underway at Greater New Corinth Church through Friday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. There will be classes for all ages with food, games, Bible stories, music, crafts and lots more. Library offers free
Roddenbery Memorial Library is offering free introductory guitar lessons on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. The lessons are taught by Scott Easom and all ages are welcome.
City cleanup day is Wednesday
Cairo Main Street and Keep Grady County Beautiful officials are planning a city-wide cleanup day for Wednesday, June 13 and the public is invited to participate. There will be two groups of city employees to target areas of the city in the effort that will be starting at 7:30 a.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. Each team will work for two hours and then return to Davis Park for refreshments. Anyone who wishes to volunteer and help the city crews in the cleanup are invited to meet at Davis Park at either 7:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. The city will provide volunteers with safety vests, grippers and trash bags.
Program under way
Despite the renovations currently in full swing at the Roddenbery Memorial Library, the Summer Reading Program is still being held for children, youth and adults. The calendar for the summer is packed full of activities for library patrons of all ages. Children’s activities include the Ken Scott Magic Show, Rock Painting, Rock Star Day, Character Parade, Mrs. Kate’s Musical Puppet Show a Musical Scavenger Hunt and more. For teens, the library plans events to Make Your Own Perfume, Slime Time, Make Your Own Jewelry and a Make a Comic Book Clock. Washington alumni weekend planned for August

to have VBS
The Midway Baptist Church is holding its annual Vacation Bible School now through Thursday, June 14 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. A meal will be provided each evening and classes will be available for all ages, birth to adults. Midway Baptist Church is located on Hwy. 93, south of Cairo.
