THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Garden Club held its annual Camellia Show on Feb. 8 and despite the frigid weather that proceeded the show, the camellias brought for entry and display were plentiful and beautiful.

According to Marge Willis, co-chair of the show, more than 960 blossoms were displayed or entered.  The number of entries was down slightly from last year, but the show was beautiful.

Among the local winners was Haven Shea, whose Dr. Tinsley won Division 1, general public.

The Camellia Show was sponsored by the Thomasville Garden Club in cooperation with the American Camellia Society.  Thomasville Garden Club was founded in 1914 and is in the midst of its 100 year of service to Thomasville.  Plans are underway for the upcoming Standard Flower Show, Centenniel Celebrations, which is planned in conjunction with Rose Show, April 25 and 26.

The date for next year's Camellia Show is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015.
