Burke: Ag, jobs concern District 11 citizens

THOMASVILLE — Jobs and agriculture are subjects that concern state Senate District 11 citizens, according to a candidate for the Senate seat.

“They’re not necessarily separate issues. We’re in an ag economy,” said Dean Burke, a Bainbridge Republican.

Burke predicted that as agriculture grows, the job situation will improve.

Agriculture concerns west of Grady County are about reaching a groundwater supply. To the east of Grady County, the concern is about drought, the candidate said.

Burke, a physician, is meeting people and feels that he is gaining momentum in his quest for the Senate seat.

The candidate thinks people like his leadership style, pointing out that leaders of communities in the district are supporting him.
