Band to present concert on Saturday

THOMASVILLE — Music Director and Conductor Lisa M. Foltz and the Rose City Symphonic Band for "A Royal Affair," are holding an afternoon concert featuring works by Walton, Vaughan Williams, Meyerbeer, Glinka, Svendsen, Tchaikovsky and Sousa.

Presented by the Rose City Symphonic Band, the concert will take place this Saturday in the Thomasville Municipal Auditorium. The Municipal Auditorium is located at 144 E. Jackson St., in Thomasville. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and admission is free.

“The band and I are excited about presenting this concert for the people of Thomasville and the surrounding areas. We are playing great repertoire and our members have had fun preparing for this Saturday. We are looking forward to presenting a wonderful and entertaining program for people of all ages to enjoy,” said Foltz.

“Visitors can spend the afternoon taking in the quaint shops of Downtown Thomasville and then enjoy the free concert at 4:00 pm. The concert will last about 75 minutes.” Foltz noted that concert-goers can also enjoy dining in downtown Thomasville following the concert, as downtown restaurants will be open for normal business hours.

RCSB is a community wind and percussion ensemble consisting of volunteer instrumentalists from Thomasville and the surrounding area.

Founded in 2011 by Executive Director Thomas Wagner, and led by Lisa M. Foltz, Music Director and Conductor, RCSB is comprised of students, adult professionals ― including many music educators, and retirees.

Members enjoy performing quality wind band music and providing audiences with memorable experiences of listening to music in a diverse range of styles.

“The Rose City Symphonic Band has performed at the Thomasville Rose Show and Festival and at Victorian Christmas,” said Felicia Brannen, Special Events and Auditorium Manager. “We are thrilled to have them return to the Municipal Auditorium with such a wonderful program that the entire community and surrounding areas can enjoy.”
