Library programs are continuing

The Roddenbery Memorial Library continues its Summer Reading Program this week with several opportunities for learning and discovery.

Preschool Storytime is 10:30 a.m. Thursday,  and will feature “Critter Fun” for children ages five and under.

 There will be a special family event at 10:30 a.m.   Saturday called BJ's Party House. It will feature Spanish merchants landing on shore and celebrating the rich cultural heritage and influences of Spanish life in the south.. then and now.

There will be a quick sketch artist, balloon artist, two face painters and a professional air brush artist. The event is free to all ages.

There will also be a Teen/Tween Event called “Mad Science” for students grade 6-12 at 2 p.m., Thursday.  Teens and tweens will participate in science experiments called “Spark a Reaction with MAD Science” presented by Jonathan Turin and April Morgan.

Adults are also reminded about Tech Tuesdays which offer one-on-one computer help every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. plus a special program this week on 3D Printing.

Gospel concert set for Sunday

The Hymnmasters will be in concert at Eastside Baptist Church at 6 p.m.  Sunday.

 The church is located at 404 5th Street, NE in Cairo.

Celebration planned Sunday

There will be a retirement celebration to honor Pat Brinson, who has been the postmaster at the Whigham Post Office for 34 years, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bond's on East Broad Avenue in Whigham.  Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Class of 1994 plans reunion

Members of the Cairo High School Class of 1994 are planning their 20th class Reunion for Sep. 13 and are currently seeking contact information for all former classmates.
