THOMASVILLE — Thomas County commissioners will take a seat in history Tuesday when the board meets for the first time in the restored/renovated historic Thomas County Courthouse.

The restoration project will not be complete until 2013, but commissioners will meet in the building Tuesday to honor Commissioner Mary Jo Beverly.

The meeting will be Beverly’s last. She did not seek re-election this year.

Beverly had served as commission Public Properties Committee chairman for a number of years and has overseen the historic courthouse project and plans for and construction of the Thomas County Judicial Center.

The Tuesday meeting is at 9 a.m. on the third floor.
