Brookwood Interact Club participates in service projects

THOMASVILLE — Members of the Brookwood Rotary Interact Club were busy with service projects during the fall semester.

For their international project in November, the students prepared about 50 shoeboxes filled with toys, personal care items and treats for children. Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, distributes the boxes to children in other countries.

On Dec. 7, Brookwood Interact members went to the Vashti Center to help decorate for Christmas.

“After setting up the miniature Christmas village and helping decorate the tree in the dining hall, the students prepared gift bags for the homeless with sample-size soaps and other items,” said sponsor Debbie Quinton. “We sang Christmas songs with the Vashti children, and afterward, some of the Brookwood students played basketball with a few of the residents.”

George Keeling, chairman of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Interact Clubs, visited the Brookwood campus this semester to install the Interact officers.
