Wallace presented Flowers award

Staff report

THOMASVILLE — Flowers Baking Co. of Thomasville, a subsidiary of Flowers Foods (NYSE:FLO), has selected employee David Wallace Jr., as recipient of its 2013 Flowers Spirit Award.

The Flowers Spirit Award recognizes employees who are a positive force at work and in their community.

The award was inspired by the kindness and generosity of Langdon S. Flowers, past president and chairman of the board of Flowers Foods. Throughout his life, Flowers encouraged many people within the company and throughout the country and was an active supporter of many charitable and community organizations.

Wallace, a sales representative at the Thomasville bakery, was recognized for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, commitment to his job and volunteerism in the community.

He is an active member of Mt. Zuma Baptist Church, where he drives the church bus, visits seniors and homebound people and sings in the choir.

In his honor, Flowers Foods has made a monetary donation to the charity of his choice —Mt. Zuma Baptist Church.

“David is an outstanding employee who is always positive, encouraging, and willing to help anyone in need,” said Mickey Miller, president of the Thomasville bakery. “He is a person of high integrity and is a very worthy recipient of this honor.”
