Gentlemen, get your high heels

THOMASVILLE — For the third consecutive year, Thomasville men will don red stilettos and parade publicly.

It’s OK. It’s for a good reason.

The event is the third annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes, the largest annual fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Thomas County Inc., known as The Treehouse.

The Treehouse serves sexually abused and assaulted children.

“They are interviewed, and some of the exams are done in a child friendly environment,” said Steve Jones, an Advocacy Center board member and Thomas County Sheriff’s Office captain.

To prevent the trauma of a law enforcement agency or hospital emergency room, almost all aspects of an investigation are carried out at the Treehouse.

The Advocacy Center also serves women who have been sexually abused or assaulted, but the primary focus is on children.
