THS archers excel

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville High School archery team competed in the Pine Grove Regional Tournament on March 1.

THS was among the six high school teams that competed in Valdosta. In its second year, the THS team saw much improvement and had three students qualify for the state tournament that will be held in Perry on April 8.

Paul Nix continued his winning streak by placing first overall in the high school division with a score of 275. James Herbert was right on his heels with a score of 270, placing him third overall.

The girls team also competed well. Hannah Teehee placed third overall in the girls high school division to earn her a place in the state tournament.

Todd Creech, the coach of the THS archery team and FFA advisor, commended his team.

He said, “We really saw a lot of improvement from the members we had last year, and our new archers did an outstanding job.”

Lakin Knop was another bright spot for the team. She missed qualifying for the state by only three points.

Nix, Herbert and Teehee are in the process of practicing in hopes of qualifying for the national tournament.

The THS archery team also includes Shedrick Brown, Rebecca Crumby, Anne Marie Dixon, Coleen Eubanks, David Huddleston, Guneshia Smith and Michelle Taylor.
