Meigs man charged with child molestation

THOMASVILLE —  A 27-year-old Meigs man is being held without bond in the Thomas County Jail after being charged with child molestation.

Junior Jumelle Iretes, 6056 E. Railroad St., Meigs, is charged with aggravated child molestation and child molestation involving a 13-year-old girl.

In the middle of the night, the victim’s mother dropped the teen off at the suspect’s house, where Iretes’ wife was to baby-sit the girl.

“While the child was being baby-sat by the family, the suspect molested the child,” said Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator.

The teen reported the sexual activity to an adult.

The girl was interviewed at The Tree house Child Advocacy Center.

While being interviewed at the Jail-Justice Center, Iretes admitted to having sex with the teen, Watkins said.

The sheriff’s office will ask the Thomas County Department of Family and Children Services to remove the girl from the parent’s custody.
