THOMASVILLE — The 16th Times-Enterprise citizens meeting later this month will feature runoff candidates vying for the District 11 state Senate seat.

A forum featuring candidates Mike Keown, a Coolidge Republican, and Dr. Dean Burke, a Republican and a Bainbridge resident, is set at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Thomas County Board of Education administrative offices auditorium, 200 N. Pinetree Blvd.

The runoff is Tuesday, Feb. 5. A special election was called after John Bulloch, a Thomas County Republican and longtime state senator, resigned in December.

Early voting begins Monday, Jan. 28, and ends the day after the forum.

“It would have been preferable to have the event before early voting began, but this was the most opportune time both candidates had available,” said Mark Lastinger, Times-Enterprise managing editor.
