THOMASVILLE — James “Jack” Hadley, president/curator of the Jack Hadley Black History Museum, was urprised and honored to a get a telephone call from Olympic gold medalist Teresa Edwards on Feb. 8. Edwards told Hadley that she would be in the area  and would like to visit the museum.

Edwards, a Cairo native, visited the museum on Monday while she was home visiting her family. She previously donated some of her artifacts to the museum.

When she walked through the museum’s door, she was touched to see the various exhibits and all the artifacts she had donated — some she had worn in the 1996 and 2000 Olypmic Games (her game uniforms, shoes, photosm etc.)

Edwards is the most decorated Olympic basketball player on the planet, male or female, with four gold medals and one bronze medal in five Olympics.
