A 14-year-old McIntyre Park Middle School (MPMS) student was charged Monday with disorderly conduct after making threatening remarks at the 117 Glenwood Drive school.
The remarks were considered threatening to the school and people at the school, said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
The student made statements about chopping up people with an axe and blowing up the school, Hampton explained.
The student was removed from the school by the school resource officer and taken to the Jail-Justice Center.
Hampton said the teen was charged with disorderly conduct for making the threats. The student was turned over to his parents.
“School officials are taking steps, as well, to ensure safety at the school,” Hampton said.
