Library to unveil glass art

Staff report

THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Public Library System will unveil a public triptych glass art piece Thursday at 2 p.m.

Artist Devin French, visiting glass artist at the Florida State University Master Craftsman Studio, completed the glass work, which consisted of hundreds of colors, using hand-sifted enamels (crushed powered glass) with 30 custom blended colors.

The three panes, each 30 inches by four inches, depict a colorful display of azaleas. The FSU Master Craftsman Studio designed and developed the artwork.

This artwork was donated in memory of Doris B. and Franklin I. Smith, and Irene D. and Robert J. Black by friends and family.

It will be on display in the main entrance to the library on Madison Street.

The Thomas County Public Library System’s main library is in Thomasville. There are branch facilities in Boston, Coolidge, Meigs, Ochlocknee and Coolidge.
