Mayor declares National Service Day

THOMASVILLE — Mayor Max Beverly recently presented AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Joi Whitaker and local 4-H members with a proclamation recognizing April 1 as National Service Recognition Day.

“We were delighted that (Max) Beverly, the mayor of Thomasville, joined in on Mayors Day of Recognition, a nationwide effort that highlighted the important roles and impact of national service,” said Thomas County Extension Coordinator Cindy M. Wynn. “Community and national service is a vital resource for the Georgia 4-H Program and is a cost-effective way to address issues in our county.”

Wynn added, “Thomas County is very fortunate to have AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Joi Whitaker working with the Thomas County 4-H Program, and this was a special way to recognize the positive impact she is having right here in our county.”
