Officer benefit Thursday

THOMASVILLE — A benefit dinner for a Thomasville police officer is Thursday.

More than 1,400 tickets have been sold to benefit Matthew Griffin, a Thomasville Police Department school resource officer.

Fellow police officer Wade Glover issued a reminder about the event.

Griffin, who has Crohn’s disease, was out of work for a considerable period of time. The purpose of the benefit dinner is to help the officer recoup some of his lost wages.

The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Connection Church, 2123 Smith Ave., opposite Granddaddy’s.

Glover said that although many tickets have been sold, a few remain. Those wanting to purchase a ticket may do so at the event by arriving early.

Tickets are $8.

The meal will consist of half of a smoked chicken, green beans, corn on the cobb, pound cake and bread.
