Getting an early start

THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Certified Literate Community Program and Dr. Seuss are in agreement.

“The more that you read, the more that you’ll know.” (Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut)

That’s why the CLCP is making it a point to read to four year olds in Thomas County and give them books.

“Our goal is to give three books per year to four year olds in Thomas County,” Kathy Megahee said.

On Thursday, CLCP board members and volunteers visited First Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church preschool classes. They already read to students at Head Start, Peanut’s Kiddie Kollege, Jerger Elementary School, Scott Elementary School, Harper Elementary School and Hand-In-Hand Primary School.

They plan to reach every four year old in Thomas County.
