THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jacket bands have more students named to District Honor Band than any other school that competed in its division.

All District Honor Band auditions were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Crisp County High School. More than 500 students registered to compete for positions in the concert (ninth and 10th grades) and symphonic bands (11th and 12th grades).

Sixty-one of the 160 students selected for placement in the honor bands are TCCHS musicians.

“Our students and staff worked very hard in preparing our students to audition,” C. Michial Mayhall, TCCHS bands director, said. “We are proud of our students’ success and look forward to representing our school system.”

Seventeen high schools from throughout the congressional district were represented in the competition. These included: Cairo, Thomasville High, Colquitt, Brooks, Tifton, Pelham, Monroe, Miller County, Early County, Crisp County, Westover, Lee County, Dougherty County, Deerfield Winsor and Turner.

See Wednesday's edition for complete list of Central District Honor Band members.
