Courtney Ogletree is the 2012 recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Loftiss II Senior Recognition Award of the First United Methodist Church.
This annual award recognizes a graduating high school senior for outstanding involvement in the church’s youth ministry. The award consists of an individual plaque, a perpetual plaque in the Youth Activity Building and a monetary award.
Ogletree has been an active member of the youth group, youth choir and Sunday School. She is often the lay reader for the traditional service on Sunday mornings and serves as an assistant with the acolytes. A veteran of several mission trips, Ogletree will join First United Methodist’s youth mission team to Appalachia this summer.
A 2012 graduate of Thomas County Central High School, she plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall. She is the daughter of Derek and Jan Ogletree.
The Senior Recognition Award was first presented in 1996. Ogletree joins 17 past recipients including Adrian Stowers, Bess Davis, Lindsey Booth Bader, Rebecca Ramsey, Adena Bowen, Susan Brook Ezra, Ashley Waite, Janet Feldman, Katy Reichert, Claudia Bruner, Josh Hinckley, Marie Collins, Hillary Hutchison, Will Collins, Jacob Hinckley, Rene Marcinski and Carolina Kelly.
