Humane society holding a ‘Pawty’

Staff report

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society (TTCHS) is hosting a "Pawty" and annual meeting on Wednesday at Glen Arven Country Club.

"This special event is a way for the community and TTCHS supporters to enjoy an evening celebrating the accomplishments of the Humane Society in a fun, positive atmosphere. The Pawty will also feature some special attractions that are sure to engage any animal lover," said Lindy DeWert, TTCHS board president.

The event will feature a special photo exhibit of some of the TTCHS' animals taken by acclaimed wildlife photographer Mark L. Atwater of UpClose Photography.

There will also be a brief, moving performance by the Red Hills Players. This short performance will illustrate the emotional relationship and age-old bond between a dog and human. At the Pawty, patrons will have the opportunity to bid on a few select items in a small silent auction.

At 6 p.m., the event will start with wine and beer and time to bid on auction items, followed by the dinner and program at 7 p.m..

All proceeds will benefit the Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society.

Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased by calling or visiting the TTCHS at 180 Big Star Drive or call (229) 228-0613.
