Colonial Dames sending items to U.S. soldiers

CNHI News Service

THOMASVILLE — Members of the John Lee of Nansemond Chapter, Colonial Dames 17th Century, have joined forces with a local woman, Judy Davis, to send boxes of needed items to active duty military personnel overseas.

One of the goals of Georgia State President, Colonial Dames 17th Century, Dianne Cannestra, is to increase care and support for veterans and active duty personnel.  The local chapter is assisting her in accomplishing that goal.

The boxes remind the soldiers that people do care about them and have not forgotten their sacrifices. Items that are sent are things we take for granted, such as snacks, toiletries, T-shirts, socks, toothbrushes, hand sanitizers, water flavors, popcorn, and coffee.  The boxes from this project go to Afghanistan.

It is the goal of the John Lee of Nansemond Chapter to continue this project for the next two years.
