Garden Center extends reach, offers holiday tips

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Garden Center opened its doors on Tuesday for the 15th annual Fun, Food and Flowers luncheon. One hundred twenty tickets were sold to those who wanted to experience the beauty of flowers and the outdoors.

President Mary Tomlinson likes to sell tickets to members, but also to people in the community.

“We like to have people come who have never been to the Garden Center before,” Tomlinson said.

All three of Thomasville’s garden clubs — Briarcliff, Killarney Queen and Rambler Rose — set up areas in the Garden Center where they had items for sale. The items included jewelry, an assortment of jelly and jams, and scarves.

“Killarney Queen has most of the baked goods, Rambler Rose has more of the white elephant sale, and Briarcliff sells the jellies and jams,” Tomlinson said.

The best part of the luncheon was the camaraderie, Tomlinson said.

“I like how the members get to know one another better,” Tomlinson said.
