THOMASVILLE —  A Boston man was charged with several drug offenses after he fled from narcotics agents.

Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents learned on Wednesday that Gilbert Johnson III, also known as Chico, had illegal drugs in the Honda Accord in which he was traveling.

Agents saw the Accord in the Garnett Street area and activated blue lights and siren.

Johnson refused to stop and traveled to Taft Street, where he pulled into a yard. The Honda came to a stop after striking large pieces of wood.

Johnson and a passenger fled on foot, said Kevin Lee, narcotics/vice commander.

Agents found cocaine, marijuana and numerous plastic bags used to package drugs for sale.

Lee said the suspect attempted to conceal the contraband and plastic bags on leaves on which he fell when he was taken down.

Johnson is charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute, cocaine possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing project, marijuana possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing project and obstruction of officer.
