Alma Frances Jordan Gibson
Services for Alma Frances Jordan Gibson, 97, of Thomasville, are at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008, at New Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member. The Rev. Robert Clark and the Rev. Milford Stanley will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are grandsons. Mrs. Gibson died May 8, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1910, in Thomas County, she was the daughter of the late James Marvin and Cernita Davis Jordan. In February of 1939, in Thomasville, she married Eustace Gibson, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1972. She watched the New Shiloh church being built in the early 1900's. She was a member of the WMU and was a Sunday school teacher. She was the world's greatest mother and grandmother. Her God and her family were very important to her. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin E. and Janis Gibson of Thomasville, Francis A. and Bobby Gibson of Thomasville; daughter, Ruby Jo Bryant of Thomasville; daughter-in-law, Makiko Gibson of Atlanta; grandchildren, Gordon Bryant, Michael and Melissa Bryant, Jonathan and Michelle Bryant, D. J. Gibson, Chris Gibson, Shirley and Chad Dixon, Sonia Johnson and Brian Gibson; great-grandchildren, Samantha Bryant, Alexandria Bryant, Cross Bryant, Shelby Bryant, Melanie Dixon, Emily Dixon, Dominic Johnson; and brother, Ansley Jordan of Vidalia. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Gibson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., today at the funeral home.
