Services for Ernestine Brown Wilks, 70, of Miami, Fla., and formerly of Cairo, are at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Bethlehem AME Church in Cairo. The Rev. W.F. Griffin and Elder Ruben Addison will officiate and interment is in Crestview Cemetery. Active pallbearers are nephews. Mrs. Wilks died May 11 in Miami. Born Nov. 3, 1937, in Grady County, she was a daughter of the late Harrison and Julia Brown. She was married to Abraham Wilks Jr. who preceded her in death. She attended Washington High School in Cairo and was a housewife. Survivors include daughters, Beverly Clarke, Peggy (Terry) Roberts, Christine Spivey all of Miami, Priscilla Wilks of Stone Mountain; son, Abraham Wilks III of Lawrenceville; sisters, Elizabeth Hudson, Hattie Mae Johnson, Rosa Mae Brown, Maxine Brown all of Cairo; brothers, Clifford Brown (Birdie) Sr. of Cairo, Raymond (Peggie) Brown Sr. of Dallas; friend, Claude Brinson of Miami; godchild, Melanie Copeland; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. — Cloud & Son Funeral Home
