Ray Bozeman Autry



Services for Ray Bozeman Autry, 82, of Hinsonton are at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham. Dr. Bobby Johns will officiate and interment is in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are W.E. Bozeman, Doug Adair, Joe McGalliard, Louie Autry, Danny Autry and Joey Autry. Mrs. Autry died May 15, at her residence. Mrs. Autry was well known for her many contributions she made to the community. She was a past board member of Mitchell County Hospital Authority and past board member of Mitchell County Hospital Foundation Capital Fund Raising Committee. She was a past board member of the Mitchell County Department of Family and Children's Services. Mrs. Autry was a former member of the Pelham Chamber of Commerce and served on many of its committees. She was also a member of the William T. Flynt Chapter 303 order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Autry was a former member of Pinecrest Country Club having served as president of the Pinecrest Ladies Club. She was an avid golfer, playing with teams and friends through out southwest Georgia. She was also involved in the Mitchell EMC Leaders Programs since its inception in 1951. She served as chairperson for the Mitchell County Leaders, being very active, supportive and loyal in her role. Her love for her church, Hinsonton Baptist, was shown not only in her participation, but also thru her many generous gifts to enhance its beauty. Her late husband, "Jimmy" was her first love. Next came her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. However, she always had time for her neighbors and friends from far and wide. She also loved to travel. She will be deeply missed by each person whose life she touched. Survivors include sons, J.E. Autry III and wife Dondra, Hank Autry and wife Phyllis all of Hinsonton; daughter, Lola A. Whitfield and husband John of Hinsonton; sister, Fay Bozeman Autry of Hinsonton; eight grandchildren, Michelle A. Smith, Jim Autry IV, Jim Weathersby, Ashby Autry, Prentiss Autry, John "Whit" Whitfield, Jr., Autry Ray Whitfield, Kristen Whitfield; three great-grandchildren, Worth Smith, Luke Smith and Ty Autry. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Elzie Bozeman and Lola Phillips Bozeman; husband, J.E. "Jimmy" Autry Jr.; brothers, Paul Bozeman, Willie Hill "Bo" Bozeman; and sisters, Alma Bozeman, Azolene Bozeman and Margaret Adair. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Cemetery Fund c/o Hank Autry, 101 Hinsonton Rd., Meigs, Ga. 31765. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., today.
