Hubert Wayne Ulmer
Services for Hubert Wayne Ulmer, 82, Whigham, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Jon Mizell and Elder Robert Conner will officiate and interment is in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers are Bobby Glover, Roger Oliver, Leroy Ulmer Jr., Scott Ulmer, Joe Ponder, Ellis Odom, Phil Ulmer and grandsons, Jeremy Lee Brock and Robert Wayne Baxter. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Ulmer died Wednesday, July 2, at his residence. Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Whigham, he was a son of the late Rufus Perry and Maybelle Joyner Ulmer. On Jan. 13, 1951, he married Josie Knowles Ulmer who survives. He was a farmer and was a member of Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a member of Turkey Creek Community Club. Survivors include his wife, Josie K. Ulmer of Whigham; daughters and son-in-law, Betty Baxter of Cairo, Sue and Mike Brock of Whigham; grandchildren, Jeremy Brock of Whigham, Mandy Baxter, Robert Wayne Baxter both of Cairo; great-grandson, Owen Baxter of Cairo; and sister, Mary Frances Oliver of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clyde E. Ulmer, Clifford Ulmer, Leroy Ulmer Sr.; and sister, Agnes Ulmer Stephens. Memorials may be made to Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Roscoe Cliett, 323 Vereen Bell Rd., Cairo, Ga. 39828. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.
