Graveside services for Susie Ethel Barwick, 85, are at 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Barnett's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms. Barwick died Aug. 3, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Fla. She was a resident of Orange Springs, Fla. and a former 40-year resident of Pahokee. She was born on June 7, 1923, in Cairo, to Olin Jefferson and Honorene Gilliard Wimberley. She was married on March 16, 1940, to J. S. Barwick, who died on July 7, 1990. Survivors are daughters, Becky Barwick of Charlotte, N.C., Geni (Simon Train) Hastings, Susan Elliott both of Williston, Fla., Laurie (Ronnie) Hilliard of Orange Springs; son, Jeff (Carlota) Barwick of Clewiston, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Patty Barwick and Elizabeth Cohen; and her very special friends, Frank and Betty Jean Tillis of Canal Point, Fla. She was preceded in death by a son, John "Dopper" Barwick Jr. who died on Aug. 22, 1995; sisters Ellen Harvey, Edna Earle Chason, Louise Morris; and her brothers Buddy and Rogers. Family visitation will be immediately before and after the service.
