Arnold Ray Wass



Arnold Ray Wass, 79, of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, in Milledgeville. A private memorial service will be held in Barwick. Born Oct. 27, 1928, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., to the late Donald D. and Florence Need Wass. Mr. Wass was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy. He had a long career in radio, beginning in Quitman, in 1950 and around the southeast in Macon, North Carolina and Florida retiring from WPAX in Thomasville. Survivors include his daughter, Dara (Randy) Barwick of Boston; two grandchildren, Jill (Brian) Higgins of Valdosta, Sam (Alex) Martin of Barwick; sister, Phyllis (Hank) Fritcha of Woodburn, Ind.; brother, Richard (Marie) Wass of Springfield, Ill.; and six nieces and nephews. Mr. Wass was married to the former Annie Lou Hooker (Giles) who survives.
