Lynn ‘Shan’ Shanholtzer

— Services for Lynn “Shan” Shanholtzer, 89, of Whigham, are at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at the Full Gospel Chapel, Cairo. The Rev. Paul Womack will officiate. Services will conclude at the church.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo. Mr. Shanholtzer passed away at his home in Grady County on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Mr. Shanholtzer was born on Feb. 28, 1924, in La Harpe, Ill., to the late Luther Fisk Shanholtzer and Alberta Hipple Shanholtzer. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On April 16, 1998, he married Ruby Hodge Shanholtzer, who survives. He was self-employed as a building contractor. Survivors include wife, Ruby Hodge Shanholtzer, of Whigham; son, Zane Shanholtzer, of Whigham; daughters, Belinda Faye Jackson, of Quitman, Diana Powe (Sheldon), of Calvary, Marian S. McCormick (Nealie), of Pelham; stepchildren, Patricia Sanders (Charles), of Commerce, Jerry Massey (Dianne), of Commerce, Beverly Cooper, of Cairo, Johnny Massey (Patricia), of Cairo; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; host of step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; and his canine companion, Bridget. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois Shanholtzer; his brother, Norman Shanholtzer; and a sister, Adah Hedrick.
