Daisy Evans

THOMASVILLE — The earthly life of a kind and virtuous woman came to a peaceful end on Saturday, January 4, 2014.  Her life was a testimony to the truths found in Proverbs 31.  She epitomizes beauty of character, nobility, wisdom, virtue and many “call her blessed” and “praised her”.  Daisy Manuel-Evans, the daughter of Mack and Alice Hopkins, was born November 1, 1913 in Gadsden County, Florida, the first of seven siblings.  Her life was spent in Gadsden and Decatur counties.  Daisy Evans earned the reputation of a friendly, quiet spoken, kind and caring lady by friends and family.  She joined the St. Mary A.M.E. Church at an early age and was very faithful.  She lived according to Christian values and principles.  Mrs. Daisy possessed many friends and was an inspiration to all who knew her until the very end of her earthly life.  Daisy became a partner in love and marriage to her childhood sweetheart Paul Evans, who preceded her in death.  This union was blessed with five children, Lilla Mae, Devous, Allen, Howard and Janet.  She was cherished y her many children and affectionately called “Mama Daisy”.  Those who remain to cherish her memory include a loyal and devoted daughter Janet Evans-Mitchell, devoted grandson James Davis, twenty-two grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren.  She was truly the matriarchal leader of many other nieces, nephews, relatives, family friends and acquaintances in various places.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s A.M.E. Church, Climax with interment to follow at Conyers Cemetery, Climax. Visitation will be held at the Williford’s Funeral Home from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014. — Williford’s Funeral Home
